At Novant Health, Arlene Ferebee leads new business initiatives aimed at enhancing patient access, transparency, and convenience. Adept at harnessing business and management skills to ignite the execution of complex initiatives, Arlene has been instrumental in launching and accelerating strategies for the Health Insurance Marketplace, Medicare Advantage, and other health plan collaborations which enable patient access, affordability, and transparency. Fueled by her passion for health equity, mental health, and the arts, she advocates across numerous organizations to engage and uplift underrepresented communities.
Arlene was honored nationally with the 2022 OPERA America Trustee Recognition Award, received Opera Carolina’s 2021 Helen & Stewart P. Scott Philanthropy Award, and was named 50 Most Influential Women in 2020 by The Mecklenburg Times. Her vast community service includes Southern Area Chair, The Arts, The Links, Incorporated; Opera Carolina Board (past chair); Women’s Impact Fund (past board member); Greater Charlotte Chapter of The Society, Incorporated Supporting the Arts, charter member; New Generation African American Philanthropists Charlotte; Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated Diamond Life Member; and certified Mental Health First Aid® instructor.
Arlene was a key architect of a unique community leadership program called the H: Drive Experience. Inspired by Douglas Tappin’s ‘I Dream,’ the musical drama based on the life of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This program enabled high-potential leaders with limited access to resources and opportunities to strengthen their voices around access, inclusion, and equity to serve the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community.
